Each have been renovated using natural materials, such as hemp, lime and different types of wood to keep it as natural as possible.

All have most of their original features still apparent, such as the lovely granite stone, the large oak beams and even the smaller window openings.

Each have a private terrace, with a BBQ and a garden table and chairs. You can access the spacious garden from all terraces, and you can rest assured that the children can play around and explore the garden.

We have chosen to name our gîtes after naval ships, French navigators, and a special port in Sydney, Australia. Read on to discover the meaning behind the name of our gîtes.

La Boussole

La Boussole is our studio. Another gîte, which is suitable for a couple, but, which can sleep 2 adults and a baby/child.

It is 30m2 and is your home-away from home. The kitchen is brand new and is fully equipped with a 4-ring hob, an oven, a large fridge/freezer, a microwave, a toaster, a kettle, a coffee-maker, crockery and pots & pans. From the kitchen window you have views on the spacious garden and pool.

The dining/lounge area has a double sofa-bed, a TV/DVD player, which is attached to the wall to ensure more space and table and chairs.
The 4-poster bed is set in a small alcove, which gives it an eve more intimate feel and which enlarges the studio.

The comfortable shower-room has a WC, hand-basin, cabin-shower, washing machine, and a shelf to put your personal items on.

La Boussole also has enough hanging room for coats and there’s a light wooden wardrobe.

It has kept all it’s original features, with stone walls throughout, even in the shower-room, and it’s large, old oak-beams.

There is also a private terrace, on which there is a table and chairs. The terrace is separated from the main house’s one by a bush of colourful hydrangeas.

Meaning of La Boussole

La Boussole is named after one of the ships, which accompanied the French navigator, La Pérouse, on his discovery of the world. He was sent by Louis XVI. La Pérouse never came back from his expedition and it is said that the last thing Louis XVI asked before being beheaded by the guillotine was “ Have we news of La Pérouse?”.

Bougainville

Bougainville is a cute gîte, which can sleep up to 4 people. It has an equipped kitchen with a 4-ring hob, an oven, a large fridge/freezer, a microwave, a toaster, a kettle, a coffee-maker, crockery and pots & pans. From the kitchen window you have views on the spacious garden.

Upstairs is an open-plan mezzanine where the double bed is. The floor is wood throughout and it has a window, which opens onto the front part of the village.

Downstairs, there’s the lounge area with a double sofa bed and the comfortable shower-room, with a cabin-shower, WC and hand-basin.

It has a private terrace, which has views on part of the large garden.

Meaning of Bougainville

Bougainville has been named after another French navigator, who explored the world and was inspired by many British explorers. The second ship sent to explore with the first fleet, had a botanist who discovered the flower the Bougainvillea, which he obviously named after the French explorer!

L'Astrolabe

L’Astrolabe is our larger gîte, which can sleep up to 7 people. It is great for a family.

In the lounge area, there’s a TV/DVD player. The TV in this large gîte is linked up to UK satellite TV – in case you get nostalgic!
There’s also a large sofa, a double sofa bed and a couple of cane chairs. The open fireplace is also a special feature of this family gîte.

There’s a large kitchen area, with a brand new kitchen. It is fully equipped, with a dishwasher, a 4-ring hob, an oven, a large fridge/freezer, a microwave, a toaster, a kettle, a coffee maker, crockery and pots & pans. From the main window you have views on the large garden, as well as the pool. The large table and chairs are central to the kitchen area.

As you make your way upstairs, you will arrive at the open plan mezzanine, on which there are 2 single beds – perfect for the children or the teens. You will then make your way into the master bedroom. It is a very spacious and quite luminous room. It has a double bed, bedside tables, and another single settee, which can be used as a single bed, for a small child for example. You will then go through to the ensuite bathroom. It has a large bath, with showerhead, a hand-basin, with shelving beneath, a WC and the washing machine.

You also have access to your own private terrace, with BBQ, table and chairs, with views on the spacious garden and the pool.

In case you are unfortunate to experience some cold weather, we will provide you with some logs,
free of charge
, and you can indulge in the open fireplace!
